"The Passing" showcased the Samsung Galaxy SIII's NFC sharing technology in a way that was highly relevant to the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The idea spot was supported by a social execution that allowed people to share their own Olympic spirit by sharing the Olympic flame from phone to phone.
Once you downloaded "The Flame" app on your Galaxy SIII, you could light your torch at any NFC-enabled poster, or have it lit by another Galaxy SIII owner's flame. Equipped with geolocation technology, the app let you see people around you who were with or without a flame.
The app created a city versus city competition, with each passing of the flame contributing to the nearest city's collective flame. In the end, the city to feature the biggest flame by the Summer Games' closing ceremonies would win a closing ceremony of its in the form of a Olympic-worthy summer bash, hosted and funded by the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
